What are emotional problems?

Depression, phobias, anxiety, confusion, addiction, compulsions, chronic pain with difficult medical explanation, any change of thoughts, feelings and perception of reality that brings significant suffering to the individual.
Symptoms of these disorders are more varied: insomnia, hypersomnia, change in appetite and weight, memory loss, tachycardia, chest pain, fatigue, difficulty in controlling behavior, such as ingestion of alcohol, drugs and food, irritability, sadness, anger, suicidal ideation, a decrease of self-esteem, changes in libido and other sexual dysfunctions.

These problems influence on a daily basis, both in relationships with people and in its daily activities, including work, housework and social situations. Can and should be treated, seeking a better quality of life in general. The earlier the diagnosis and treatment, better results are obtained in the process.

How is the treatment?

After initial assessment, developed by doctor and psychologist, is a treatment planed in accordance with customer needs. This plan may involve a refuge with drug monitoring and medical care, and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy.
The drug helps to treat the symptoms, increasing the motivation of the client for a behavioral change. The cognitive-behavioral approach is a policy, and interactive, in which therapist and client work together in identifying and alteration of dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors.

Our behavior as individuals, is related to what we think and what we feel. If something happens, I play in a way that makes me feel something and hence gives a behavior. Dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors are those that have been learned by us since our childhood and reinforced by half. They are mistaken ways of interpreting reality, bringing suffering, leading us to bad behavior. The emotional disorders are developed when this process (thinking-feeling-behavior) is not bringing benefits to the individual's life. Or, are damaging their relationships, their activities and causing him significant pain.

The Psychoanalytic comes to analyzing this process, emphasizing the social learning and how this has developed so as to cause inconvenience. The Psychotherapy helps the client in identifying their suffering, the self-knowledge and emotional and behavioral change. The evaluation of thoughts, feelings and beliefs about themselves and about the world, will be main focus in this process, as well as the learning of skills in coping with problems and the discovery of his abilities, which are often neglected, unknown and little used.

How is psychotherapy?

The individual psychotherapy lasts for 50 minutes to 1 hour and the frequency varies from 1 to 3 times a week, given the need of the customer. The timing of treatment is limited, aimed at high therapy, varying the period of the agreement with the diagnosis and development of the treatment process.

The Psychotherapy Group, with a 1 hour and 30 to 2 hours depending on the number of participants, aims to exchange experiences of people with similar issues under the mediation of the psychologist. This activity provides greater identification between the members and strengthening of social skills experienced in their own group, in which individuals contribute and learn together.

The choice of form of psychotherapy depends on the problem and emotional characteristics of the client.

To whom?

Anyone can go through the process of evaluation and treatment, showing emotional pain. In the case of children and adolescents, parents and teachers can identify changes in attitude and behavior problems.

Increasingly, the science demonstrates the intimacy of these two areas.
